New: Bentofix® Green – The biodegradable sealing from the roll

In today’s world, where the focus is on sustainability and environmental compatibility, urban and landscape planning is more important than ever. We have developed the right solutions to make your projects future-proof and sustainable.

After reading the headline, do you think the sealing is degrading? Fortunately, this is only partly true! Bentofix® Green is a geosynthetic clay liner (GCL) that is only made from raw materials obtained from nature. Naue has been producing nonwovens from biodegradable fibers for several years: Secutex® Green. In Bentofix® Green, these nonwovens serve as a carrier and top layer for the bentonite powder, which acts as a seal between the two layers of nonwoven fabric in this sandwich product. Strictly speaking, the degradable carrier and cover layers are therefore an installation aid that disappears over time.

Sodium bentonite powder is a highly effective waterproofing mineral whose thickness in the swollen state of e.g. one centimeter absorbs clay with a sealing effect of several decimeters. Once the Bentofix® Green GCL (also known as bentonite mat) has been installed and poured over, the bentonite begins to swell under the influence of moisture and forms a homogeneous sealing layer. Bentonite has the ability to close punctures or dry cracks on its own, so that a lasting sealing effect is achieved.

Naue produces the biodegradable carrier and cover materials on the basis of cellulose or PLA. Both raw materials are biodegradable, but have different properties. Every project has its own challenges, and we will work with you to find the right solution.
